ARSUZ COMMUNITY CENTER

A Space for Learning, Creativity, and Community

Following the devastating earthquakes of February 2023, which severely damaged the historic İskender Sayek Culture House, we established the Arsuz Community Center in July 2023 to continue our work and respond to the changing needs of the community.

Created with the support of Turkish Philanthropy Funds (TPF) and the valuable contributions of the Butros family, the Center's spatial planning was developed in collaboration with faculty members from Bilkent University's Department of Architecture.

Today, the Center brings together children, young people, women, and the wider community through education, culture, creativity, and solidarity. In 2026, our programs are supported by Sivil Toplum için Destek Vakfı (STDV) and Türkiye Mozaik Foundation, helping us sustain and expand our activities.

A Place for Learning, Creating & Sharing

Throughout the year, the Arsuz Community Center hosts educational, cultural and social programs for people of different ages and backgrounds.

Our regular activities include the Women's Choir, Book Club, Children's Book Club, creative arts and drama workshops, language classes, and programs for children and young people.

The Center is also home to the Arsuz Weaving Workshop, which preserves local weaving traditions while supporting women's economic empowerment through craftsmanship and collective production.

Spaces for Everyone

Designed as a flexible and welcoming environment, the Arsuz Community Center offers spaces for learning, creativity, production and community gatherings.

The Center includes a multipurpose room, a well stocked library, dedicated spaces for children, young people and women, the Arsuz Weaving Workshop, a kitchen for culinary workshops and guest accommodation for visiting instructors, artists and project partners.

At its heart is an open courtyard and communal square, bringing people together for outdoor activities, performances and gatherings.

These shared spaces allow the Center to accommodate a diverse range of activities and collaborations.

A Shared Space for Collaboration

Beyond our own activities, the Arsuz Community Center welcomes projects developed with other civil society organizations and local institutions.

Our collaborations include the Art Ambassadors project with Talebeyiz Biz, the Genç Mekan youth space and music studio initiatives, Generous Listening sessions with V Vakfı and cooking courses organized in partnership with the Public Education Center.

By bringing different organizations and initiatives together, Arsuz Community Center creates opportunities for shared learning, creativity, and community engagement.

Built and Sustained Through Solidarity
